UAE Ministry of Economy partnered with Plug and Play

The UAE Ministry of Economy has recently partnered with global tech accelerator Plug and Play to introduce a hackathon program that focuses on improving the tourism of Emirates.


The Tourism TechGen program will influence digitization technologies and assist the students in expanding on ground-breaking solutions for the industry together with local authorities of tourism, on Monday, the ministry confirmed on this.


This decision is aligned with the Principles of the 50 of UAE, which is a succession of efforts to improve the financial growth and get ready for a rapidly changing scenario in the forthcoming days.


Key government bodies and private sector companies taking part in the hackathon comprise Abu Dhabi tourism department, Sharjah tourism department and Ras Al Khaimah, Etihad Airways, exhibitions company Adnec Group and developer Miral.


In the program, the educational institutions are Khalifa University, Zayed University, UAE University and the Higher Colleges of Technology, among many others.


The Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq said that UAE has made great strides toward tourism’s future via its constant support and development of the sector, one that’s a key driver for promoting sustainable economic growth. In the recent years, UAE has continuously seen strong and record levels of growth.

Hackathons are meeting of computer programmers and other pertinent candidates who are engaged in collaborative programming with the target of setting up of new solutions for various use cases.
