Udhampur administration is set to develop village tourism in Panchari

Under tourist village development program, the district administration of Udhampur has lay out a plan to set up village tourism in Block Panchari. To talk about the modalities, today at Conference Hall of DC Office Complex, a meeting was arranged under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib.

Detailed discussions were organized on different features which include provision of requisite facilities for tourists like home stay provision, police verification, fixation of rates for tourists, engaging tourist guides, setting up of camping sites, identification of Pony riding in the area, identification of Palki Walas and porters, identification of water points and trekking routes, sources of drinking water facility, preparation of food chart, entertainment etc.

At the start, Kanta Devi, Additional District Development Commissioner, greeted people who took part in the discussion and explained that the main aim of creating tourist village is to draw the footfall to Panchari and turn it into one of the best tourist destinations. She also mentioned that this area has immense potential when it comes to tourism.

The DC requested the stakeholder departments to set up a holistic plan in consultation with the PRIs for its seamless completion. The DC also stated that Panchayat representatives and Youth club members’ participation will help in developing attractive tourist villages with universal appeal. She asked RSETI to organize a training program for youth club members to groom them as tourist guides.
