The United Kingdom is set to enjoy largely dry and sunny weather in the coming days, with meteorologists predicting a potential mini-heatwave at the end of the month.
High pressure will dominate the scene over the next few days, leading to mild temperatures with occasional showers and patchy clouds.
The mercury is expected to range between 11 and 16°C, rising to the high teens further inland. Although the east coast will be slightly chillier on Tuesday, most places will experience dry conditions.
However, strong easterly winds and a colder feel are expected on Wednesday, primarily across the north sea coast. Thursday and Friday could see more significant weather fronts and possible showers in England and Wales, but the Met Office’s long-range forecast predicts warm temperatures towards the end of the month, particularly in the west and northwest.
High pressure is expected to remain north or northeast of the United Kingdom, leading to a fair amount of dry weather in April. May is also expected to see a settled weather regime, maintaining the likelihood of clearer and drier conditions.
Tuesday will see early cloud breaking and clearing slowly in some eastern coastal areas of Scotland, followed by plenty of sunshine for most areas, although it will be windier than Monday.
