Heavy snowstorm has led to the cancellation of British Airways flights at Heathrow while the Bristol and Bournemouth airports were affected.
Around 90 flights were cancelled by the British Airways as the temperatures went down to -15C overnight considered to be the coldest since 2012. The airport footage in the early hours showed fierce snowfall lash down.
Some of the BA flights were cancelled completely and other short0haul journeys merged.
The decision to cancel any flights was made by the airlines Heathrow mentioned and the airport was still operational.
The airlines said that recognizing the uncertainty caused due to bad weather to the customers they are offering the ones due to travel on short-haul flights to/from Heathrow to postpone their journey.
They were forced to cancel and merge a number of short-haul flights because of the adverse weather conditions predicted and have ensured to protect the rest of the schedule.
However, the flights to and from Gatwick and London City Airports were planned to operate as normal.
As per the reports some inbound flights to the London hub were also delayed and visitors were advised to check before they travel.
Heathrow Airport spokesperson said that to ensure that their passengers and colleagues travel safely this winter, the airport will be continuously monitoring and preparing for cold weather conditions forecast for the UK.
