Union government answers question about Statue of Unity raised by Gujarat MP

The union government, in a reply to a question asked by Gujarat MP, Mohan Kundariya, said that the Statue of Unity (SOU) in Gujarat has become an inspirational tourist destination for domestic and international tourists, but the central government does not suggest directing any other state to begin similar initiatives.

Kundariyawanted to know if the central government considers the SOU to be an initiative which has improved tourism and whether the union government proposes to direct other states to take up initiatives like the same.

The minister said that as part of its ongoing schemes, the central government is assisting state governments under the ‘SwadeshDarshan’, ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (Prashad) and other schemes.
