Union minister speaks about new skills for domestic tourism support

The Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that new skills are required for backing domestic tourism, since it changes with wellness and adventure tourism as new pivot.


Chandrasekhar, the union minister of state for skill development and entrepreneurship was networking with the hotel industry leaders at the popular hill resort of Patnitop in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.


The ministers asked the industry leaders to chart a plan for making Patnitop a pulsating tourist destination, taking into account the local advantages and resources of the place.


Chandrasekhar said that there has been a noteworthy change in the domestic tourism route which is transforming more toward wellness, healthcare and other activities like adventure or sports, thus generating a demand for varied skills and opportunities.


He said that road tours, destinations with smaller footprints, temporary rentals or stay-at-home services have become much popular now. Hence, the hotel industry needs to decide on the narrative for the destination keeping these changes in mind.
