Union Tourism Ministry intending developing six railway stations of KRCL

The Union Tourism Ministry is enthusiastically thinking about a plan by Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL).It is for developing six railway stations in its system, comprising four in Karnataka. This plan is a part of assistance to central agencies for tourism infrastructure development scheme.


The Union Tourism Minister G. Kishna Reddy is a recent letter to Shivamogga MP B.Y. Raghavendra, said that the offer from KRCL for improvement of Udupi, Murdeshwar,Mookambika Road Byndoor, and Gokarna Road railway stations in Karnataka as well asKudal and Ratnagiri in Maharashtra is under Ministry’s deliberation. Financial support would be settled under applicable system after making use of the scheme in good time, said Minister Reddy.


KRCL had submitted a suggestion with a complete project report for Central Financial Assistance to Konkan Railway fordevelopment of tourism arrangement at six of its railway stations in September 2019.


While Udupiaccommodated to temple tourism of Sri Krishna Mutt and nearby places, countingPajaka and health and education tourism at Manipal, Byndoorprovided to beach tourismand temple tourism of KollurMookambika Temple along withMaravanthe and Murdeshwar. Gokarna Road alsoprovided to temple tourism.


MPRaghavendra in his recap to Mr. Reddy said that the four railway stations in Karnataka planned for progressareluringscores of tourists at present, and their improvement would attract even more.
