Flight 6176 that was travelling to Nashville International Airport from Dulles International Airport was able to land safely around 6.20 p.m., as asserted by Shannon Sumrall, a spokesperson of the airport. It was schedule to arrive around 6.07 p.m.
Sumrall said that the airport firefights were waiting on the runway for the arrival of the flight when it had landed.
The passengers were all safely evacuated from the aircraft and taken to the terminal.
Sumrall said that their team had been able to do an inspection and they discovered that there had been a major hot spot on the engine of the plane.
Crews hit the smoldering engine with water and foam.
Messa Airlines was operating the flight. They had initiated the emergency landing after the engine indicator was activated, as described by a spokesperson of Mesa Airlines.
Mesa Airlines said that Bombardier CRJ700 that has seats for 75 passengers has been removed from services for the purpose of inspection.
