In a bold move that will redefine Orlando’s aviation landscape, United Airlines has officially broken ground on a transformative $315 million maintenance facility at Orlando International Airport (MCO). This historic investment, set to be the largest private-sector aviation project in the airport’s history, is poised to reshape the future of air travel in Central Florida. Scheduled to open in late 2027, the state-of-the-art complex will elevate both United Airlines’ operational capabilities and Orlando’s standing as a global aviation hub.

A New Era for Orlando’s Aviation Industry

Spanning an impressive 354,400 square feet, the new maintenance facility will be a powerhouse of efficiency, featuring two advanced hangars, warehouses, offices, workshops, and staff facilities. The innovative design will accommodate up to six narrow-body aircraft at once or a combination of three narrow-body and one wide-body aircraft. This cutting-edge hub will also serve as the operational heart for United Airlines’ Technical Operations team, which currently employs approximately 1,000 skilled professionals.

Replacing outdated structures, including a 1954 hangar, the new complex will unlock prime development-ready land, fueling future expansion efforts and setting the stage for more aviation-focused growth at MCO.
