Universal Orlando Resort appoints Karen Irwin as their president

On 1st Jan, Universal Parks and Resorts announces several promotions. Mark Woodbury would be promoted to CEO of Universal Parks and Resorts. On 16th March, current chairman Tom Williams retires. On 1st Jan, Karen Irwin (president of Universal Studios Hollywood) becomes president of Universal Orlando Resort.

Irwin succeeds Bill Davis, who retires after 15 years in the post. Davis oversees Universal’s Orlando campus is a historic expansion, including the opening of two Wizarding World of Harry Potter lands- Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley along with the Volcano Bay waterpark.

Irwin has been with Universal Parks & Resorts for more than 30 years. . Since 2016, She is been the president of Universal Studios Hollywood.  Before that, she held wide-ranging roles, including overseeing food and beverage operations, merchandise, and partner development.

 Universal said that Tom Mehrmann, president of Universal Beijing Resort, will take on the new role of president. Mehrmann’s experience in theme parks is more than 45 years. He joined Universal Parks and Resorts in 2017 as president and general manager of Universal Beijing Resort.

Scott Stobl, currently senior vice president of operations at Universal Studios Hollywood, will become executive vice president and general manager of Universal Studios Hollywood. Alice Norsworthy, executive vice president, and chief marketing officer of Universal Parks and Resorts, has been promoted to president of global marketing, Universal Parks and Resorts.
