Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Indonesia, has recently requested the investors of tourism to raise their investment in five super-priority tourism destinations to optimize region’s financial development.

He said on Tuesday that they observe that the growth in these five super- priority destinations stays sub-optimal. He is eager to drive added investment as for the sector as he believes the total of Rp5.31 trillion is extremely low with such a tactical value for the country.

Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Borobudur in Central Java, Likupang in North Sulawesi, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara, and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara are the five DSPs chosen by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Indonesia.

At the five DSPs, the total value of all current projects is calculated to be Rp172.2 trillion comprising government investments, he said.

In the meantime, the value of continuing collaboration with different parties has reached Rp1.55 trillion. The value of investment interest has touched Rp1.18 trillion, he said.

However, the minister has also added the fact that the total commitment value at the five super-priority destinations has remained quite small keeping in mind the opportunities obtainable over there.

The minister also mentioned that the five destinations require somewhere between US$6 billion to US$8 billion in investments to expand the areas, as the current investment value has reached less than Rp10 trillion only.
