The Uttar Pradesh administration is planning to alter the property tax guidelines and put it into effect from the next fiscal year. This would be done after nearly a decade for boosting tourism.
The urban expansion division had decided to modify the guidelines for calculating tax for definite
possessions by presenting the draft instructions in the first week of July.
The division has received nine proposals and oppositions to the draft. The revised proposal will be presented to the cabinet for sanction and would be informed subsequently.
Property tax instructions were last modified in 2013- While the charges of residential and non-residential structures will stay unaffected, the division has offered slackening to starred hotel establishment operators to increase tourism and employment in UP.
Likewise, necessities are essential to differentiate between bed and breakfast lodging and homestays
compared to other economical hotels and boarding- houses which will be accountable for paying tax as per the rules.
Out of the nine oppositions, eight were filed by numerous shareholders from Agra, the city which
appeals to around 60 per cent of the entire tourists from abroad coming to Uttar Pradesh.
Agra has more than 2,000 hotels and the necessity for alteration was thought as the tourism division has
rendered industry standing to starred possessions and has guaranteed these operators that the house levy, water sewerage levy and other civic responsibilities shall be charged as per the charges set for industrial components.
