The Uttar Pradesh government is working toward bringing the rich cultural inheritance of its villagers into the public eye. The state has the highest number of villages; hence, it is only sensible to take advantage of the number. The UP department of tourism is feeling optimistic regarding being able to bring tourism to the villages.

For this purpose, the tourism department of UP has initiated a phase-wise campaign. The first phase of this project is already underway. A total of 18 districts have been reserved, where promotion of rural tourism will be carried on.

The chief aim of this campaign will be publicizing the cultural tradition of the villages. Many of these villages also have rich historic backgrounds.

Improved agricultural practices would be encouraged in these villages; villagers will be trained about cow husbandry, as well as educated in artistry, handloom, handiworks and food, along with biological and agricultural multiplicity.

According to the campaign strategy, two villages will be nominated from each district where rural tourism will be boosted. Shortly, one can hope to see nearly 26 new and better villages, all prepared to welcome tourists.
It is known as agro-rural tourism when rural way of life is encouraged as tourist temptations. In present times, agricultural practices and farm-related stuffs are seen as prospective tourist attractions.

As an alternative of the natural scenery, here rural culture is at the fore.
