Uttarakhand Tourism and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj has directed officials to fill vacant positions in the two departments. He further said that the grant provided to the people of Uttarakhand who embark on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will be increased from Rs. 25,000 per person to Rs. 50,000.
Regarding the details of vacant posts in the department, the minister directed officials to fill 126 vacant posts in the Tourism department and 31 vacant posts in the Culture department at the earliest.
He said that the Ministry of Tourism had approved Rs. 34.78 crore for improving infrastructure facilities on the Kedarnath route under the Prasad scheme, which aims to promote religious tourism in Uttarakhand.
Until now, an amount of Rs. 27.83 crore has been released for the work. Along with this, administrative approval has been received on DPR of Rs. 54.35 crore for expansion works in Gangotri and Yamunotri under the Prasad scheme. 135 places have been developed under various tourist circuits including 77 in Garhwal and 58 in the Kumaon region.
Tourism secretary Dilip Jawalkar said that amidst the swiftly declining cases of Covid-19, work is being done expeditiously to bring tourism back in Uttarakhand. This will strengthen the economy and increase employment opportunities in the state.
