Wedding tourism A large number of couples made a beeline to the region of Las Vegas during this weekend with an aim to tie the knot just a few days ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Ann Mitchell, one of the tourists who had travelled to Las Vegas from the area of Dallas along with her fiancée Austin Hodges said that they were quite keen on exploring new options. This was one of the main factors that had convinced the couple to be a bit cheesy and get married on Valentine’s Day.

Austin and Ann had brought nearly 30 guests with them to Las Vegas.

The money that was generated by ‘wedding tourists’ like this couple had been able to collect about $2 billion during 2016. Aimee Stephans, marketing director for Vegas Weddings said that as much as 80% of the couples are tourists.

Stephans added that there were about 8,000 weddings a year and therefore it is a very significant amount.

The Clark County Clerk’s Office is also expecting to witness a boost in visitors in the days counting up to Valentine’s Day.
