Cloudburst and landslides affect tourism in Indian state Himachal Pradesh

The advent of monsoon has not only caused avalanches and flash floods in Himachal Pradesh, but it has also affected tourism in a significant way. Hotels in the state have reported cancelations in booking and decline in tourist footfall.

Hoteliers in Himachal have said that it is common for the footfall to reduce in July and August in the wake of monsoon, but they were hopeful regarding a smooth stream of tourists in the month of July. However, overstatement of the latest cloudbursts and landslides on social media has spoilt business in a big way, they opined. They lamented the fact that social media posts of cloudbursts were disseminated even before the onset of monsoon.
