Vietnam is slowly finding tourism as its main foothold

In Ho Chi Minh City, 85 percent of people are of the same ethnicity, and most of them are Buddhists; here, tourism is important for exposing locals to people from a variety of backgrounds.


Good news for young English learners is the fact that foreign holiday-goers to Vietnam are witnessing record highs. The number of arrivals was 15 million in 2018, which is double the rate from six years earlier, according to research from HSBC. These arrivals bring in chances of cultural exchange, as well as the tourism revenue for Vietnam.


This Southeast Asian country does not want to rely on physical exports, and that means embracing service based economy, including services like tourism.


Vietnam is scheduled to start its first direct airline flights with the United States, its biggest trading partner, early next year. The number of tourists only shows signs of increasing.
