During the first 11 months of 2025, the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi, has received approx. 31 million travelers, which indicates an increase of 22.1% relative to the previous year. The tourism sector of the city continues to expand, accumulating 120.6 trillion VND (nearly 4.57 billion USD), which is an increase of 20.7% relative to last year. Hanoi has been successful due to new tourism products, service improvements, various activities/events, and considerable marketing.
Hanoi’s tourism growth remained robust in November, with the city welcoming 2.5 million visitors, up 14.7% from the same period in 2024. This impressive growth highlights Hanoi’s successful efforts to rejuvenate its tourism sector and cater to the rising demand for both local and international visitors. The city has become a key destination for travelers looking for rich cultural experiences, outdoor activities, and world-class hospitality.
One of the primary factors behind Hanoi’s booming tourism is the continuous innovation in tourism products and services. In 2025, the city introduced new experiences, updated attractions, and organized vibrant cultural events. These fresh offerings have made Hanoi an increasingly appealing destination for both returning and first-time visitors.

The city’s commitment to hosting diverse events, from traditional festivals to modern art exhibitions, has helped position Hanoi as a destination that caters to a wide array of traveler interests.
As demand for tourism in Hanoi has surged, hotel occupancy rates have risen significantly. In November, the city’s room occupancy rate reached 73.4%, a 6.3 percentage point increase from the previous year. This boost in occupancy reflects the growing number of visitors and the increasing popularity of Hanoi as a travel destination.

Hanoi currently boasts 3,761 accommodation facilities, including more than 71,000 rooms, ranging from 1-star to 5-star hotels and serviced apartments. The variety of accommodation options ensures that Hanoi can meet the needs of all types of travelers, from budget-conscious tourists to those seeking luxury stays. Additionally, the city is home to 58 accredited dining, shopping, entertainment, and wellness providers, ensuring that visitors have access to a comprehensive range of services during their stay.
Hanoi’s tourism industry is supported by a well-trained and capable service workforce, ready to accommodate the needs of visitors throughout the peak season. With 1,921 international travel companies and 591 domestic firms, Hanoi is well-equipped to handle the demands of its growing tourism sector. The city also has 6,898 international tour guides and 2,620 domestic guides, all of whom play a crucial role in ensuring that visitors have a positive and enriching experience in the city.
In addition, the municipal Department of Tourism has taken steps to foster collaboration between travel agencies and peri-urban sites. A recent conference on tourism development in Phuc Loc commune and several survey programs in Phu Dong and Thu Lam helped connect local travel businesses with emerging tourism spots, encouraging visitors to explore beyond the city center.
Hanoi’s tourism promotion efforts have extended beyond the city’s borders. The city participated in a tourism promotion delegation to the Mekong Delta provinces in early November 2025, strengthening regional tourism ties and increasing exposure to international markets. By focusing on both regional and international links, Hanoi is positioning itself as a key player in Vietnam’s broader tourism network.
Additionally, the capital’s cultural presence was further enhanced by its participation in the 2025 International Craft Village Conservation and Development Festival at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel. This event showcased Hanoi’s traditional crafts and cultural heritage, highlighting the city’s rich history and ongoing commitment to preserving its cultural identity.
Hanoi’s promotional efforts have been robust, with 75 articles and media features published throughout November, covering key tourism events such as the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival 2025 and the 3rd Hanoi Autumn Festival. These events, which featured mass “ao dai” performances, City Bus parades, and cultural showcases, attracted significant public attention and helped shape Hanoi’s tourism image.
Furthermore, new tourism products were promoted during this period, such as ethnic cultural experiences, night tours at Ngoc Son Temple, the Ba Vi wild sunflower season, and the chrysanthemum road. The promotion of emerging check-in spots in Dan Phuong further expanded the city’s tourism offerings, encouraging both locals and international tourists to explore lesser-known gems.
International media coverage of Hanoi also continued to expand, boosting the city’s visibility and enhancing its appeal to global markets. These efforts have contributed to Hanoi’s growing reputation as a top destination for travelers looking for both cultural depth and modern experiences.
Hanoi achieved remarkable success in 2025 and will undoubtedly continue expanding in the years to come as well. With the city’s increasing willingness to broaden the range of the tourism industry, improve service capability, and retain a global presence, it will continue to remain as a major destination for travelers.
