Virgin Galactic stands the risk of losing out in promising space tourism market

Recent news surfaced that Virgin Galactic is postponing its commercial spaceflight service to the Q1 2023.

From the minute Richard Branson flew his own spacecraft to the edge of space, it appeared that Virgin Galactic’s place as a leader in the space tourism industry became secure. In spite of that, there are uncertainties that the company has lost impetus, with delays happening in Virgin Galactic’s commercial spaceflight operations.

Virgin Galactic has been under pressure to resolve the rapid reusability crisis, since it aims to reduce the turnaround time of its spaceplane’s flights. Resolving this challenge will be important for the enduring success of Virgin Galactic’s sub-orbital tourism business. Even though ticket sales remain strong, with a charge of $450,000 per person, good access with the billionaire crowd always proved to be the easy part. Hence, Virgin Galactic stands the risk of strictly limiting its prospective with the rest of the market.
