Virginia supported 232,000 tourism jobs in 2017

VirginiaVirginia tourism department reveals that the tourism revenue in 2017 has reached $25 billion and supported 232,000 jobs.

 

 

It has seen a 4.4 percent increase over 2016.

 

 

The tourism in Virginia has also supported 232,000 jobs, an increase of about 1 percent from 2016. The domestic travellers has spent $68 million a day in the state, a 4.4 percent increase from 2016.

 

 

The travel industry is the fifth largest employer in Virginia and it’s one of the top three industries in Hampton Roads, along with the military and the port.

 

 

Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade Brian Ball said that their tourism industry is an important and vital component of economic growth and prospect. The tourism sector continues to grow and new product is developed, our communities across the state become even more dynamic and vibrant.

 

 

The Virginia Tourism Corp. is the state agency responsible for marketing Virginia to visitors and gets its statistical information from the U.S. Travel Association.
