Tourist places were filled with constant humming sound of the picnickers in Visakhapatnam. Footfalls were high as the last Sunday of the ‘Karthika Masam’ at all places compared to previous weeks.
Beach Road stretch from Naval Coastal Battery to Bheemili saw tremendous rush of people from morning. Many families, children from schools, colony associations and groups of friends rushed to the places like Kailasagiri, Tenneti Park, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP), Kambalakonda, Thotlakonda, Mangamaripeta, Mudasarlova and other places apart from Rushikonda, Yarada, Bheemili and Appikonda beaches.
In the parks, people had their lunch, played games and took part in fun games with their family members and friends. Also, Simhachalam temple saw huge congregation and to make sure free flow of devotees, extra queues were arranged by the Devasthanam officials.
On Sunday, the IGZP has received a footfall of 17,905. The zoo has earned revenue of ₹9.15 lakh, said Curator Nandani Salaria.
At the tourist spots, police personnel had a frantic day, keeping an eye on the traffic flow. The stretch between Jodugulapalem to MVP Apughar saw major congestions in traffic as picnickers parked their vehicles by the road side. Auto-rickshaws and private jeeps, vans were seen plying with more than the permitted number of persons.
