The government of West Bengal has build up seven panels. These panels will be headed by hospitality sector experts in designing a road map for the development of state tourism, starting right from the hills to the seas, Babul Supriyo, the minister confirmed.
While attending a programme of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Eastern India in Kolkata, Supriyo said that one of the panels will come up with new techniques by which Durga puja can be showcased everywhere. It’s a festival Supriyo said which is no less impressive and wide-ranging than Rio carnival.
He also added that the government will introduce projects which would comprise public and private sectors and make Bengal, which is already a blessed place with exotic hills, seas and jungles, a one-stop destination for tourists worldwide. Also, we will plan carefully regarding tourism circuits along rivers, Supriyo stated on Tuesday.
After a series of brainstorming sessions, the panels will share their proposals by the end of September, the state tourism minister confirmed.
To explore the festival of Durga puja, a ten-day package will be introduced and will be made available to the visitors. Also, the government is weighing the option of starting a 15-day Gangasagar package. Here, tourists can board a cruise from Babughat, see different ghats, and reach Sagar Islands.
Also, a trip to Sundarbans will be added to the package, he said.
The minister asserted that Bengal in India is fifth with regard to flow of domestic tourists and seventh regarding international tourist footfall.
