Of late, the West Java Tourism and Cultural Office, has taken in 108 content creators. These people will act as tourism ambassadors who would be in charge of marketing province’s tourist destinations with the help of their social media profiles.
Ridwan Kamil, West Java Governor, said that this is a novel approach of promoting tourism that is repositioning itself as West Java’s backbone for the economy. In 2022, West Java is aiming to attract 40 million tourists after the inaugural ceremony on Tuesday of the 108 tourism ambassadors in Bandung.
Old practices in tourism promotion will no longer be used like the installation of huge billboards, Kamil said. In today’s context, promotion pattern is different. In the current scenario, tourism promotion digitally is the need of the hour considering the focus of huge mass on social media, he said.
Kamil added that since we are living at present in the digital world, digital marketing is a major option that needs to be utilized. In digital marketing, we use citizen journalism.
The Governor showed expectation that tourism’s digital promotion would work as a directive and will also provide information about new attractions that remained unknown to many.
On the devices of tourists, these 108 tourism ambassadors will show up, who visit West Java so that it perks up tourism visits. Here, we are not focused too much on tourists from foreign countries, he said.
