Western SydneyTo finance the first business-led plan, PENRITH Panthers has collaborated with other western Sydney leaders to make visitor economy even stronger in the coming days. The new $100,000 Western Sydney Visitor Project focuses to produce a more comprehensive region specific marketing strategy for the visitors to take western Sydney on a better platform. Ian Macfarlane is the man behind the immensely successful ‘Pure New Zealand Tourism Campaign’ has been recently recruited.

To quote Mr Macfarlane who has also developed marketing strategies for Abu Dhabi, Cape Town, Adelaide and San Diego, ‘Up to 1998 NZ had suffered market share decline in its major markets and that campaign actually allowed NZ to increase its market share in all its major markets in the seven years that followed.’ Mr McFarlane was also seen leading the World’s Smart Cities research project for National Geographic.

To quote Mr Macfarlane, Strategic Consultants’ managing consultant, ‘I think western Sydney has made a giant leap forward … to realise it does take local initiative. Getting local activation … (and) achieving a far greater appeal to interstate travelers.’

He also says that the campaign is an initiation to make the local businesses responsible for the activity they can generate with the help of right governmental aid and support.
