White Pine County shortlisted for tourism program

 Thursday, March 16, 2023

White Pine County is one of six destinations shortlisted by Travel Nevada to develop its local tourism financial system via a ground-breaking new program and eventually share in a one-time $2 million federally financed grant program.

On Wednesday, March 22nd, to offer local residents an opportunity to weigh in on potentialities, White Pine County Tourism and Recreation is arranging a 90-minute meeting at 6:30 pm, at the Bristlecone Convention Center in Ely. Everyone is welcomed to take part and share their thoughts in a session assisted by Travel Nevada’s professional consulting team. At the starting, food will be served at 6 pm with catering offered by Hunter’s. People who take part are welcomed to stay after the listening session to be present at an informal reception which is sponsored by the White Pine County Tourism and Recreation. This is arranged to find out more about the new Destination Development Demonstration (3D) Project of Travel Nevada.

The 3D Project is offering White Pine County with a personalized 33-week planning procedure to build a 10-year destination plan. Once the plan is done, the organization will have an opportunity to apply for hundreds of thousands of dollars behind financing to bring the concept to life.

All six destinations were chosen in a competitive process last fall that attracted 16 applicants.
