The family winery CVNE was created more than 140 years ago in Haro and five generations later it is still making wines, the secret of which lies in the perfect combination of tradition and innovation and that now feature on tables in five continents. At CVNE, wine tourism recalls historic buildings, Gustave Eiffel, gigantic casks, caverns that house thousands of barrels and bottles, shelters in vineyards, chateaux, sensorial workshops and the cuisine of la Rioja. Over these 140 years, it has made a walk among its vineyards and barrels the perfect experience.

Accordingly, it has prepared a summer full of ways to enjoy wine tourism. It has arranged original and alternative pre-booked visits and events so that young and old can enjoy the secrets and pleasures the world of wine and vineyards has to offer through its three wineries in La Rioja, (Spain), each with its own personality: the hundred-year-old CVNE, located in Haro; the avant-garde Viña Real, in Laguardia; and the charming Chateau de Viñedos del Contino, in Laserna.

To provide something for everyone, different types of activities and visits to its wineries have been organized adapted to the tastes and needs of each visitor.

At the centennial CVNE winery, visitors will discover:the Real de Asua building, where Imperial, the winery’s flagship wine, is made, voted World’s Best Wine in 2013 by the prestigious US magazine Wine Spectator, the first and only time that a Spanish wine has achieved first place; the Eiffel building, designed by the great architect; or the Wine Cemetery, the resting place of wines that are over a hundred years old. In turn, at Viña Real they can enjoy its state-of-the art facilities and the secrets that the mountain hides. In the case of the Viñedos del Contino, the first chateaux bordela is concept in La Rioja, visitors can walk through the vineyards and see the famous thousand-year-old olive tree, and the manor house.

Great open-air spaces

The great open-air spaces both in CVNE Haro, and Viña Real and Contino allow for guided tours, walks in the vineyards and gratifying options such as a picnic or open-air wine-tasting sessions. CVNE is fortunate enough to have the best place to enjoy nature: an exclusive viewpoint in the middle of the vineyards of the Viña Real winery, with views of La Rioja and the mountains of the north of Spain.

Wine Bar, the place to find great wines

In its hundred-year-old winery in Haro, CVNE has the Wine Bar, a unique spot where its wines can be enjoyed under the stone and wood of a place filled with history. After crossing the large red door that separates the exterior of the winery, visitors can enjoy historic CVNE wines such as Imperial, Viña Real, Monopole and Contino, exclusive Roger Goulart cavas, special wines such as Real de Asúa, Pagos de Viña Real or Contino Viña del Olivo, or the varietal wines Contino Graciano and ContinoGarnacha, with the personal attention of a sommelier. In short, more than 30 wines of up to three different vintages are offered.

The traditional Wine Bar will be open but with a reduced capacity and, as a new feature, the winery has also introduced an outdoor Wine Bar.

Visits, tasting and playroom

CVNE has a selection of visits with something for everyone and thanks to its spacious facilities safe social distancing is maintained, while strict hygiene measures are adopted in all areas. All visits are by prior arrangementand the groups will be of a maximum of 15 people. The Haro winery and the Viña Real winery can be explored through a standard visit, a gourmet visit or wine-tasting courses.

The standard visit includes a visit to the winery and the opportunity to taste two wines. Visits are possible any day of the year, including public holidays and cost15 euros (CVNE) and 12 euros (Viña Real). For experts, CVNE organizes gourmet visits, with a duration of two hours, that include a commented tasting of four wines accompanied by 4 la Rioja pinchos: Cune Reserva, Viña Real Reserva, Imperial Gran Reserva and Real de Asúa. This type of visit requires a group of at least 8 people and costs 30 euros per person.

To bring the world of wine-tasting to the public, an introduction to wine-tasting course is organized, in addition to the visits. In the visits, CVNE offers the wineglass you use as a giftto take home with you.

So that the youngest family members are not excluded from these plans, CVNE has a playroom, staffed with a team specialized in childcare, so that the adults can visit the facilities without rushing, enjoying every moment.
