Wirecard issued Ctrip branded Visa cards and offered all Chinese Ctrip customers. At present, Ctrip has 110 million monthly active users in China.

Ctrip is a Nasdaq-listed company and possessor of multiple travel sites like Skyscanner. The collaboration with Wirecard targets to ease digital cashless payments abroad for their Chinese customers.

To quote Arne Matthias, EVP Issuing at Wirecard, “Developing this tailored solution to the needs of Chinese Ctrip customers shows our large opportunities as the leading provider of digital financial technology. We look forward to expanding our partnership with Ctrip to further develop payment solutions”.

The card supports currencies from the most-visited regions of the world like Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, the UK, US and the Eurozone. The card is only available to Ctrip customers who are Chinese nationals.

According to statistics from the China National Tourism Administration, Chinese travelers in 2017 have made 131 million international trips, with that number anticipated to increase to 200 million by 2020.
