Supporting the tourism industry contributes to the financial growth and development in the regions of Quebec. That is the reason today, Rachel Bendayan, the Member of Parliament for Outremont and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, declared on behalf of the Minister of Sport and Minister, Honourable Pascale St Onge, responsible for CED, a non repayable donation of $500,000 for EcoMaris. This financial support will help the association to improve its experience related to cruising on the St. Lawrence River so that the residents of Montréal, and more specifically the ones living in the Old Port of Montréal region, can take the benefit of opportunities in the market post-pandemic.

EcoMaris was established in 2006, organizes sea expeditions mainly aimed on scientific tourism, as well as support youth, and ecotourism. Through a pedagogical move toward social and environmental problems and combining experience and action, the ones who took part learn the basics of sailboat navigation, maritime trades, and joint effort, all while getting recognizable with marine ecosystems and their preservation. The project will allow EcoMaris to obtain a cruise boat to get accustomed with its scientific cruise service to today’s realism. Also, the organization will be able to take on ecofriendly practices as it introduces its Giving Back the St. Lawrence program.

To the Canadian economy, the tourism sector is the main contributor and has been hit massively by the health crisis.
