Published on August 8, 2025

In a strategic initiative to broaden its footprint and reinforce its standing across Southern Europe, Wizz Air has rolled out a series of additional flight connections for the Winter 2025/26 schedule. The airline is inaugurating several new direct services linking prominent European cities to both Athens and Cyprus. Planned to commence between October and December 2025, the routes will streamline travel to Greece and Cyprus, enriching travelers’ winter itineraries to these sought-after Mediterranean gateways.

For passengers interested in Athens, Greece, and Cyprus, the new connections translate into greatly enhanced accessibility and a wider selection of departure points. The revised timetable also underscores Wizz Air’s sustained growth strategy, particularly as Southern Europe continues to attract a robust mix of leisure and business travel.

Starting in late October 2025, Athens—long recognised as a cornerstone of Europe’s cultural scene—will gain three new direct links, broadening the network’s European base. These services extend the airline’s reach into new departure markets and reinforce its competitive standing in Greece, demonstrating a clear intent to deepen operational and route density in this pivotal Mediterranean hub.

The Greek capital, renowned for its ancient monuments and dynamic culture, remains a favored destination for Romanian tourists.

Wizz Air will further restore its route from Chisinau, Moldova, to Athens, a service that had been on hold since October 2020. Resuming October 27, 2025, the route will operate three times a week using an Airbus A320, re-establishing Moldova’s capital city as a gateway to Athens’ ancient sites and its picturesque coastal areas.

Warsaw (Modlin) – Athens

A new direct link from Warsaw Modlin Airport to Athens will be introduced on December 1, 2025, featuring four weekly flights aboard an Airbus A321neo. This route will enhance the existing bond between Poland and Greece, two nations long united by cultural exchange and a shared tourism interest.

Wizz Air is actively broadening its presence in Cyprus by inaugurating multiple new routes to both Larnaca and Paphos airports. These additions will enhance options for passengers travelling to the island, renowned in the Mediterranean for its combination of sun-drenched coastlines and a wealth of archaeological and cultural sites.

New Routes to Larnaca

Larnaca, the principal international gateway for the island, will welcome five new services:

From Barcelona, Wizz Air will start a seasonal two-times-weekly operation on October 27, 2025. Using an Airbus A321, the route aims to meet the increasing appetite for travel between Spain and Cyprus, drawing on their mutual Mediterranean heritage.

Following a suspension in October 2020, the Skopje-Larnaca corridor will return on October 28, 2025, with two weekly Airbus A321 flights. This reintegration will further knit together North Macedonia and Cyprus, capitalising on both tourist and business exchanges.

The Suceava-Larnaca link will also return after a brief suspension in 2023, resuming on December 18, 2025, with two weekly Airbus A321neo services. This route will simplify access for Romanian travellers originating in Suceava, enabling more direct connections to Cyprus’s beaches and cultural sites.

Timisoara: A fresh service to Timisoara, Romania, will commence on 13 October 2025, featuring three weekly rotations on an Airbus A320. Timisoara is steadily evolving as an important node for both corporate travel and vacationers, and the new flight will streamline access for passengers travelling to Larnaca from the western region of the country.

Tirana: Commencing 4 October 2025, services from Tirana, Albania, will operate bi-weekly to Larnaca, transitioning to an Airbus A321neo from 28 October onward.

New Routes to Paphos

Paphos, situated on Cyprus’s southwestern shoreline, will gain enhanced access through two new direct services from prominent European cities.

Warsaw (Modlin): Effective 2 December 2025, Wizz Air will introduce three weekly departures from Warsaw Modlin to Paphos, using an Airbus A321neo. The addition will further consolidate Poland’s travel links to Cyprus, responding to an upward trend in demand for stay-over travel to the island.

Yerevan: Flights from Yerevan, Armenia, will start on 2 October 2025, operating twice weekly with an Airbus A321neo. This route establishes an unbroken air link between Armenia and one of Cyprus’s foremost tourist destinations.

Wizz Air’s Growth Strategy

Wizz Air is reinforcing its growth mandate by broadening its network of routes linking Athens and Cyprus to numerous European hubs. The airline is not only adding inaugural flights to previously unserved destinations, but is also reinstating previously withheld sectors, thus satisfying a broad spectrum of travelers eager to discover the architectural and cultural richness of the Hellenic and Cypriot landscapes.

Leisure travelers hunting for Mediterranean warmth, as well as business passengers shuttling between European capitals and the southern rim, will find the new schedule well tailored to their needs. The airline’s strategic commitment to deepening access to Athens and Cyprus indicates a robust belief in the regions’ mounting tourism appeal, which continues to be reflected in occupancy rates and yield improvements.

Conclusion

Wizz Air’s recently unveiled Winter 2025/26 program, featuring the additional Athens and Cyprus rotations, enlarges the travel options available to the Mediterranean’s most enticing corners. The augmentation of flights from major European capitals to Athens and the Cypriot cities fortifies the airline’s network and answers the escalating appetite for southern European travel. As the colder months near, Wizz Air’s broader timetable will not only enhance connectivity but will also offer travelers affordability and convenience, thereby facilitating a deeper engagement with the historical and natural splendours of Greece and Cyprus.
