World Tourism Day 2022 – The countdown begins

The countdown of World Tourism Day 2022 is currently in progress, with sector’s every segment has been invited to take an active part in this annual celebration.

The UNWTO said that this year the theme of the event is ‘Rethinking Tourism’, the International Day of Observance, will aim on re-imagining the growth and development of tourism, both in terms of size and relevance.

On September 27th, Indonesia will arrange the official day, though all member states of UNWTO along with the non-members and private sector stakeholders are being invited to arrange their own celebrations and promote the day as well.

UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili said that tourism’s possibility is huge, and they have a common responsibility on this, to make sure that it’s appreciated fully.

UNWTO on World Tourism Day 2022, urged everyone, starting right from the workers of tourism to tourists themselves, along with large corporations, small businesses, and governments to reproduce and reorganize what they do and the way they do it.

On September 27 every year since 1980, World Tourism Day has been organized.


The date highlights the anniversary of the approval of the Statutes of the Organization in 1970, to make it easier for the establishment of UNWTO five years later.
