World Travel Awards picks Greece as the top destination for Europe in 2021

The World Travel Awards picked Greece as the top destination for Europe in 2021. The Greek Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias said that the country has showcased a well-managed tourism situation in the midst of the pandemic establishing it as a beautiful and safe destination to visit.

Kikilias said that the island aims to attract tourists throughout the year and advised the professionals to prepare for a strong 2022.

Greece has the highest number of recognized vaccines, and this has also helped the tourism sector, given that travelers from several countries were vaccinated with different shots.

The tourism minister of Greece further said that Santorini, famous tourism spot, can become a model for sustainable tourism globally, with the government sharing the plan of finalizing space management, infrastructure development and integration, shifting towards more digital solutions, cruise management, and ways to manage parking and sustainable resource management.
