WTTC Global Summit to be held in Cancun next year

 Wednesday, November 18, 2020

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) have recently confirmed that it has decided to organise its annual Global Summit in Cancun from March 23-25 next year. Initially it was decided that the event will be staged in Puerto Rico around April this year before the earthquake in January disrupted the plans. The event was later moved to the Mexican destination prior to being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The show will now take place in a hybrid format, observing all health and safety protocols – including restricted numbers and extensive outdoor sessions in order to ensure physical distancing.

Those unable to attend the event in person will be able to take part virtually. Nearly 20,000 online free registrations are available, enabling participants to listen to a range of specially invited international guest speakers headlining the event and allowing them to engage in special breakout sessions. Gloria Guevara, President, WTTC and Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez, Governor, Quintana Roo said during a joint press conference in Mexico City that the innovative event will be conducted with responsibility.

Guevara added that every aspect of the 20th WTTC Global Summit is being explored to ensure it complies with the world’s best available health and hygiene protocols to show how major conferences can be held safely and securely in the new normal of the COVID-19 world with the best practice. The Global Summit is set to take place at the Moon Palace Convention Centre.
