Over half-a-million Aussies visited Bundaberg or Bundy last year, expending an enormous $232 million in the region. This in return helped in creating local jobs and boosting the economy.
For the region, it’s an important news which keeps on growing with developments at the Port of Bundaberg and record number of visitors at Mon Repos.
The National Visitor Survey, produced by Tourism Research Australia, displayed a huge number in terms of domestic tourists pouring into Bundaberg, an increase of 6% compared to the earlier years.
Also, Aussie vacationers spent 2,040,000 nights in Bundaberg. This was an increase of 18%.
Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt stated that it was great news for the tourism industry of the region.
“From the turtles nesting and hatching at Mon Repos to the whale watching in Hervey Bay, there is so much on offer in Hinkler,” he said.
“It’s fantastic to see more Australians choosing to visit Hinkler as this means more local tourism jobs and a healthy boost to our economy.”
To bring in more tourists, Mayor, Jack Dempsey is quite excited its new tourism campaign ‘LOVE BUNDY’. He hopes that it will help in boosting the tourism opportunities of the region.
