New Zealand’s first commercial ski field Coronet Peak has officially opened marking the beginning of the winter season. It is regarded as the pioneer of skiing in the Aotearoa and will be joining other ski fields that recently opened and includes The Remarkables, located in Queenstown.
Ski Area Manager Nigel Kerr mentioned that it’s great to open and it is time for 100 days of fun to start directed to the three-month ski season which usually lasting for 107 days.
It will be a great time to try as they have reconfigured their learner terrain and the new conveyor provides excellent progression and it will be the best time to start.
Coronet Peak had a pre-season teaser open day a fortnight ago but has official first day of the season started recently.
There is lot of positive energy from the guests and the opening day was a big experience and the Local Day also had many guests.
Since Local’s Day was a first for Coronet Peak and The Remarkables the lift passes was offered at very discounted rates and its proceeds was divided and shared among the local schools in the Queenstown.
There are heavily discounted season passes for Queesntown and Arrowtown school students. There will also be instructions facilitating the inclusion of snowsports as part of the curriculum.
