Taking advantage of the natural beauty surrounding Haokun Lake, authorities in Lingyun have been aiming to develop ecological tourism in a bid to get rid of poverty, thereby boosting earnings of local residents.

Currently, ecological tourism has become a key industry to help people in the region bid farewell to poverty. From January to October this year, the Haokun Lake scenic area witnessed about half million tourists with the tourism consumption of 142 million Yuan (20.19 million U.S. dollars). A total number of 709 people in Haokun Village of Lingyun have found their way out of poverty. Poverty concerns in Haokun have now dropped to 13.11 percent.
