Eric Chen, has succeeded Laurence Barron as chairman of Airbus China, he was earlier the president of Airbus Commercial Aircraft China.
In the new role as country head Xu will be responsible for all Airbus Commercial Aircraft activities and for leading the company’s helicopters, defence and, space businesses in China.
He was pleased to work with Airbus for more than 20 years. He said that as the chairman of Airbus China, he will continue to support Airbus’ development in China. They have a dynamic team, and with young people like George joining the management team, he was looking forward to an even more promising future of Airbus China.
Along with him George Xu has been appointed chief executive of Airbus China.
George Xu worked with the Tianjin Economic & Technology Development Area Administrative Committee in 1995 and was promoted to deputy director of the Investment Promotion Bureau of the Tianjin Free Trade Zone in 2003 and later as the director in 2005.
George Xu said that he felt honoured to re-join Airbus China as its chief executive and China has the largest Airbus fleet in the world and will continue as one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the next decades.
He wants to keeping the momentum going and continue to work closely with the teams to achieve new successes.
