Hawaiian Airlines slashes 40% flights for April

Hawaiian Airlines announced to cut down nearly 40% flights for the month of April. The suspended flights would include international routes as well as flights to the United States of America. The decision has been undertaken due to the lack of demand as well as travel restrictions issued by governments in light of the global coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier on Wednesday, the carrier announced that it will halt nonstop service between Honolulu and Tahiti due to new arrival declared by the French Polynesian government. The last flight in this route would be operated tomorrow, March 21^st 2020. However, the carrier is expecting to resume operations and scheduling service in May.

Hawaiian has already suspended flights between Honolulu to Sydney and Brisbane till April as well as Honolulu and Auckland till May as Australia and New Zealand have imposed travel restrictions. An additional cut down is also being executed in Hawaiian’s network in Japan. Instead of its daily service between Honolulu and Osaka’s Kansai Airport, the carrier will operate six non-stop flights in a week from April 6^th – 28^th 2020. The airline will also step back from operating three to four non-stop flights each week between Honolulu and Fukuoka from April 5^th to June 1^st 2020.

Although services in the mainland will be maintained, the frequency of flights with the U.S. will be limited. All non-stop services between Maui and Las Vegas will be slashed by but daily non-stop flights between Honolulu and Nevada will continue to function. The airline will operate only one daily non-stop flight from Honolulu to the cities of Seattle and San Francisco for the month of April. Daily non-stop Hawaiian flights between Kona and Lihue will also be suspended after March 31^st 2020.

The airline also plans to gradually decrease or reduce frequencies between neighbouring islands with the lowest demands after connecting the islands with around 100 flights daily during the month of April.
