The number of foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) in India during July 2017 and February 2018 were 74.11 lakhs as compared to 65.75 lakh during the same period last year as informed by the government to the Parliament yesterday.
Union Minister of State for Tourism K J Alphons mentioned it to the Rajya Sabha that foreign tourist arrivals have increased by nearly 12.71% from July 2016 to February 2017 to July 2017 to February 2018.
He also said that foreign exchange earnings (FEE) in India in July 2017 to February 2018 was about Rs. 1.28 lakh crore as compared to Rs. 1.13 lakh crore during July 2016 to February 2017 portraying a growth of 13.32%.
Alphons then went on to state that there has been no adverse impact of goods and services tax (GST) as observed in tourism sector footfalls.
