Indian railways will work with Fiji to revamp the Fijian network

Indian railways will work with FijiIndian railway engineers will now work with Fiji to develop the railway network in Fiji. Within few weeks they will reach in Fiji to access the development of Fiji rail works.

 

 

The Indian railway engineers’ team will comprise of civil and mechanical engineers, including traffic management experts, which will give guidance and research on the scope of development works in Fiji to draw more tourists and also make the easy communication system.

 

 

A Government statement issued last night stated that Fiji secured this railway infrastructure development assistance from the Indian government at the World Sustainable Development summit held in New Delhi.

 

 

The Attorney General and Minister for Transport Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum attended the meeting held from February 15-17, 2018.

 

 

According to the statement Mr Sayed-Khaiyum met Indian Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal where he expressed the urgent need for revolutionizing the existing Fijian railway network to not only cart cane by rail to the mills but extend it to transport everyday passengers and cargo, which help to ease the communication system.

 

 

The assessment of the Fijian railway network will also inform the utilization of the line of credit to the Fiji Sugar Corporation by the EXIM Bank of India.
