Jill Delaney will be president and CEO of Discover Albany, a not-for-profit group which was previously known as Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau since 1992.
She was a longtime public relations and development manager. Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau has been headed by Michele Vennard.
A 1992 graduate of the University at Albany, Jill Delaney was most recently head of the New York State Tourism Industry Association. Previously, she was interim chief operating officer for CMOST —the Children’s Museum of Science and Technology, located in Troy, and school director for Empire Education Corporation.
Discover Albany currently represents about 300 businesses in Albany and the Region. Delaney said that they have had many occasions to work with members of the team here and I know just how vibrant and impactful this organization is.
Michael Gulotty, board chairman for Discover Albany, said Delaney has visible and contagious passion for our region, for tourism, and for how critically important tourism is to every single person in the community they serve.
Discover Albany operates the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center, which is located at historic Quackenbush Square in downtown Albany and the Information Desk at the Albany International Airport.
Discover Albany is an independent, not-for-profit corporation and serves as Albany County’s Official Tourism Promotion Agency (TPA), as well as an administrator of the Capital-Saratoga Region and Hudson River valley marketing efforts.
