London Waterloo trains cancelled, rush-hour travel disruption

Due to overrunning engineering works , London Waterloo, Britain’s busiest rail station was closed for the start of the morning rush hour. This happened for the second time in four months.

 

 

Almost 250,000 commuters arrive at the station from south-west London, Surrey, Hampshire and beyond.

 

 

Many of them had difficulties in their morning journeys while there will also be financial damage to the wider economy which can even go up to millions of pounds.

 

Majorly the trains serving the London Waterloo are electric, thousands of commuters squeezed on board on the diesel train arrived from Salisbury just after 7 am. Ten minutes later it departed for Exeter. A number of trains started arrival by 7:30 am which included some from the suburbs.

 

 

A Network Rail spokesperson apologised to passengers for the disruption to services across the South Western network this morning owing to a possession overrun.

 

 

He said that disruption, including severe delays and cancellation will last until the afternoon.

 

South Western Railway, the train operator said that they had prior information of over-running engineering work in London Waterloo area.

 

The issues was resolved by the Network rail engineers, but during the closure, trains were not able ti leave a number of depots and enter services. Due to this there will be residual delays and altercations to services throughout the morning.

 

Cross Country, Great Western railway and Southern services were suggested for the passengers as the services would be back to normal until the start of the afternoon rush.
