McPherson to retire from Marriott, Europe

The Marriott International announced that Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Europe catering to United Kingdom, Ireland and continental Europe, will retire from the position effective the end of March.

 

 

She has served the company for more than 32 years and will be working on the start-up business in the UK. She is the principal investor here and will be spending more time with her family in the United States.

 

 

Arne Sorenson, president, Marriott International said that it was hard to imagine life at Marriott without one of the most accomplished leaders. Under Amy’s leadership moved up from number ten in total rooms distribution in Europe to number two. An impactful achievement made against the backdrop of some of the complicated economic and geopolitical times in Europe’s history.

 

 

Amy is known as a remarkable leader and a driving force behind the growth and innovation and consummate professional.

 

 

She had joined Marriott in 1986 and kept moving up the corporate ladder taking the role of included vice president of finance and business development, senior vice president of business transformation and integration, and senior vice president of revenue management.

 

 

She has put together and exceptional team and organisation in Europe and her achievement. During her tenure she had doubled the size of the business launched AC and Moxy brands globally and completed the successful integration of SPG associates and hotels in Europe.
