A fly, cruise, and tour package was released by Riviera Travel in partnership with small ship specialist, Cruise Traveller. The package includes maze of canals in Venice, the pristine mountains of Switzerland and cruise along the Main River in Germany visiting medieval towns.

The Swiss Bells and German Citadels’ package spans over 16 nights offering Europe’s most breathtaking locations on 140-guest river ship, Jane Austen. It combines a seven-night small group tour from Venice to Zurich with a seven-night river cruise, which begins in Mainz, Germany, on the banks of the Rhine River and journeys along the beautiful, citadel-lined, Main river, ending in Nuremburg.

The ‘Swiss Bells and German Citadel Package’ departs Australia on May 26, 2019, and September 1, 2019. The package includes flights from five Australian cities, accommodation at Venice and Zurich and a free onboard drinks package.

After arriving in Venice, the itinerary begins the next day as guests travel inland to Sirmione, the town sits on the banks of Lake Garda. It is known for the medieval Scaligero Castle that overlooks the lake. From there, guests will journey over seven days to Zurich, Switzerland visiting stunning sites – the vineyard covered hills of Franciacorta, Italy, the Swiss Alpine village of Wengen, nestled in the mountains, overlooking the waterfall valley of Lauterbrunnen and the iconic, wooden, Kapellbrucke bridge in Lucerne. From Zurich, guests board a train to the German city of Mainz to continue their journey.

Guests will then board Riviera Travel’s river ship, Jane Austen, and cruise for seven nights east through the dramatic Main River valley, admiring the medieval castles, quaint villages and architecturally diverse cities. Highlights of the river cruise include the medieval town of Wertheim with its moat protected castle and old town, the UNESCO-listed Bamberg and its Romanesque cathedral and the intriguing Bavarian city of Nuremberg steeped in history. The Tour ends in Nuremberg where guests will be transferred to the airport for their return flights home.

The 16-night ‘Swiss Bells and German Citadels’ package is available from U.S. dollar 13,995 per person, twin-share (June departure).

Cruise Traveller provides bonus onboard cruise drinks package including drinks with lunch and dinner for bookings made before January 31, 2019.

The ‘Swiss Bells and German Citadels’ package includes return flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane or Perth, the seven-night land tour with 15 meals, two nights’ accommodation in Venice and Zurich, and the seven-night cruise with all onboard meals and shore excursions.
