Universal-Studios-JapanOver 60-adventurers at Universal Studios Japan located in Osaka were in for a ride in the true sense of the term quite unexpectedly on Tuesday. Quite abruptly the rollercoaster they were riding on made an emergency stop, leaving them hanging mid-air for up to two hours.

Two carriages from the Jurassic Park-inspired Flying Dinosaur ride came to a sudden stop after a safety mechanism was triggered around 4.45 p.m. as reported by the Japanese media.

One of the carriages stopped just prior to reaching the terminal but then the other carriage stopped at about 20 to 30 metres above ground on its upward track.

The staff members of the theme park were able to rescue all the 64 stranded passengers through an aisle alongside the rollercoaster tracks. No injuries have been reported as a consequence of the incident.

The park operator mentioned that it has thereafter replaced the faulty motor control part that had caused the incident as reported by the media on Wednesday.

But then some of the visitors were horrified by the incident.

Some of the riders told the local news media, detailing about the horror struck them on the terrifying ride. The 1,120m-long Flying Dinosaur rollercoaster ride was launched in March 2016, with its highest point reaching 37m above ground.

The incident of Tuesday was actually not the first time that the ride ran into trouble.

Last year in September, over 30 passengers were stuck when the ride suddenly stopped, as per the media.
