The figures confirmed Spain’s strong appeal among Scandinavian travellers seeking sunshine, beaches, cultural experiences and leisure holidays.

Italy ranked as the second most popular destination market, with 714,000 passengers travelling between Copenhagen and Italian destinations. Italy recorded stronger growth than Spain, increasing by 10% year-on-year, reflecting rising demand for Mediterranean escapes, city breaks and cultural tourism.

France secured the third position among the leading summer destinations, attracting 484,000 passengers, followed by Greece with 456,000 travellers and Türkiye with 427,000 passengers.

Together, these five Mediterranean countries generated approximately 2.9 million passenger journeys during the summer period. The figures demonstrate how strongly Scandinavian aviation demand continues to be connected with southern European tourism markets.

The popularity of these destinations has been supported by extensive airline networks, seasonal route expansions and continued consumer interest in warm-weather holidays.

Long-Haul Aviation Growth Strengthens Copenhagen Global Connectivity
