Vietnam Railways is providing affordable travel opportunities for their customers in 2026 with a major fare cut and discounted sleepers (up to 40%). Passengers can now travel to key areas of Vietnam at low costs. The new promotion covers the main Vietnam rail connections including Hanoi, Vinh, Hue and Danang. Long distance rail travel becomes economical with the additional discount on return fares and early bird bookings for both domestic and international travelers.

Vietnam’s railway network is set to become a more attractive travel option in September 2026 as new promotional fares bring down the cost of journeys across key routes. The latest campaign introduces significant reductions on selected train services, allowing passengers to travel between major destinations at lower prices.

The promotion focuses on routes connecting central and northern Vietnam, including important links between Danang, Hue, Vinh and Hanoi. Along with direct fare cuts, passengers can unlock further savings by purchasing return tickets or reserving their journeys well ahead of departure.

The initiative provides travellers with more affordable choices while supporting wider demand for rail-based tourism and domestic mobility.

Major sleeper fare reductions introduced on popular railway connections

Vietnam Railways will roll out its special fare campaign from September 7 to 10, 2026, covering several trains operating through central Vietnam.

Passengers travelling on services SE2, SE4, SE6, SE8, SE10 and SE20 will receive reduced fares, with soft-seat tickets discounted by 15 per cent and sleeper berths reduced by 30 per cent.

The offer applies to selected journeys departing from stations between Danang and Cho Sy and travelling towards destinations between Hue and Hanoi.

A larger discount will be available on trains SE1, SE2, SE3, SE4, SE21 and SE22, which operate between Danang and Dieu Tri.

Travellers using these services will benefit from a 15 per cent reduction on soft-seat fares and a 40 per cent cut on sleeper berth prices.

The discounted fares provide passengers with a more economical way to complete longer journeys, especially on overnight routes where sleeper accommodation is preferred.

Popular routes become more affordable under the September offer

The promotional programme will lower travel costs on several important railway connections across Vietnam.

Following the fare reductions, selected sleeper tickets will be available at starting prices such as:

Passengers travelling by soft seat can also benefit, with routes such as Danang to Dong Hoi starting from around VND 181,000 (USD 6.9).

Ticket prices may differ depending on factors including the selected train, travel date, seat category and remaining availability at the time of purchase.

Early reservations unlock bigger return journey savings

Vietnam Railways is expanding the promotion beyond individual route discounts by offering additional benefits for passengers purchasing return journeys.

The return ticket discount programme will operate across two periods:

Passengers purchasing return tickets between one and 19 days before departure will receive a 20 per cent reduction on eligible fares.

Those who complete their booking at least 20 days before departure can access a higher 30 per cent discount.

The advance purchase incentive aims to encourage better travel planning while helping passengers secure lower prices before their journey begins.

Group passengers gain additional railway travel benefits

The promotion also extends advantages to passengers travelling in groups.

After existing group travel discounts are applied, eligible group bookings can receive an additional 20 to 30 per cent reduction on return ticket fares.

The savings are expected to benefit families, organised travellers and groups planning multi-city journeys across Vietnam.

Affordable group travel options can make railway journeys more accessible while encouraging more visitors to explore destinations connected by the national rail network.

Vietnam strengthens rail travel appeal with new passenger incentives

The latest fare campaign highlights the growing role of railway travel in Vietnam’s transport and tourism landscape.

Train journeys continue to offer passengers an alternative way to experience the country, connecting major cities with cultural centres, coastal areas and regional attractions.

The routes linking Hanoi, Hue and Danang are particularly important for travellers seeking convenient connections between some of Vietnam’s most recognised destinations.

With reduced sleeper fares, cheaper return journeys and advance booking benefits, Vietnam Railways is creating stronger incentives for passengers to choose rail travel in 2026.

Railway tickets can be purchased from authorized ticket selling agents, railway stations and the online railway booking site.
