Dotted with ancient houses, cobblestone streets and remarkable tea houses, 1,400-year-old Anren presents an allure from the olden times. Having ignored for long as a prospective place for visitors, the town is ready to become one of the next tourism attractions of China.

Of late, Anren bagged a 5A rating, which is the most sought-after award given by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in China. China also boasts of other major allures like the Great Wall of China and Beijing’s Forbidden City. More than 2,500 places have received rankings of 1A to 5A by the Chinese government based on their uniqueness, arrangement, security and beauty.

Anren is thought to be one of the best-preserved ancient communities of China. It is among 12 new add-ons to the 5A type — representing a place’s appeal and convenience of entrance for tourists, lodging choices and transport among others. Among other newly listed places are far-off waterfalls, mountain reserves, sheltered lakes and fascinating gorges.

Currently, there are over 300 tourist spots in China carrying a 5A classification. That might provide people with the impression that this assessment is typical, or easily achievable. Reasonably, it echoes the massive size of China along with its wealth of remarkable sites.
