2.16 mn global tourists visit Cambodia during first 5 months in 2023

Thong Khon, the Cambodian Minister of Tourism said that during the initial five months of this year, over 2.16 million worldwide tourists came to Cambodia.

He also stated hopes that all through 2023, Cambodia is expected to witness approximately 4.5 million tourists from abroad with around 16 million local tourists.

Khon said this at a conference to evaluate the strategy to reinstate and uphold the tourism segment of
Cambodia during and after the pandemic emergency in second part of last year, the first part of this year and the execution path for 2023-2024 on June 21.

Khon said that during the initial five months of this year, in excess of 2.16 million global travellers came to Cambodia at a growth proportion of 530 percent equated with the similar period last year and around 10 million domestic travellers, marking an upsurge of 76 .4 percent likened to the equivalent period last year.

Minister Khon added that with the purpose of ensuring the sustainability of the recovery and backing of Cambodia’s tourism segment throughout and after the pandemic disaster, the Royal Government has specified important plans and guidelines, including roadmap on the proposal to renovate and uphold Cambodia’s tourism division throughout and post pandemic predicament, 2021-2035 Siem Reap tourism development master plan and 2021-2035 Mondulkiri tourism development master plan.
