200 Indian pilgrims and tourists marooned in Bethlehem

As much as 200 Indian pilgrims and tourists in Bethlehem who were marooned because of the conflict in the region are now brought back through Egypt.

There are no additional events connecting Indian residents involved in the outcome of the huge Hamas violence on October 7. 

No less than 600 Israelis, comprising soldiers, are thought to have been executed in the unparalleled
violence by the militant group at several sites, from the Gaza strip. In Israel’s response, as much as 370
Palestinians have been murdered.

Around 200 Indian residents have been marooned in the Bethlehem area, which is a center for Christian
pilgrims and holidaymakers. Previously, the Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that approximately 27 pilgrims were in that region.

The Indian embassy has facilitated their comeback via the road way by the Egyptian border.

There are nearly 18,000 Indian residents studying and employed in Israel. However, there are no reports of
them encountering any difficulties or any of them having requested that their comeback be expedited.

Meenakshi Lekhi, the Minister of State for external affairs said that the Indian government will bring back
marooned pupils in Israel.

Nevertheless, it is agreed that there are no removals scheduled for Indian residents who are inhabitants of
Israel.
