Melbourne

The 2024 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, supported by the Allan Labor Government, promises to offer an immersive experience of the city’s dynamic culinary scene to both Victorians and visitors. Running from March 15 to 24, the 10-day program, announced by Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos, will host over 300 events celebrating the richness of local produce and culinary expertise.

The festival will commence with the highly anticipated return of crowd favorites—the World’s Longest Lunch on March 15 and the World’s Longest Brunch on March 16, both taking place at Kings Domain for the first time. Renowned chef and owner of iconic venues such as Gimlet, Cutler and Co, and Supernormal, Andrew McConnell, will take the lead at the World’s Longest Lunch, serving a three-course meal to diners seated at tables extending over 600 meters through the Kings Domain gardens.

Meanwhile, the World’s Longest Brunch will showcase new-wave Indian cuisine by chefs Harry Mangat (Biji Dining), Helly Raichura (Enter Via Laundry), and Mischa Tropp (Toddy Shop), expecting to attract 3,600 diners.

The festival will draw in culinary talent from across Australia and beyond for exclusive dinners, collaborations, and residencies in the Global Dining Series, enticing locals and visitors to partake in these extraordinary events.

Fed Square will transform into a hub for Melbourne’s finest bakers and pâtissiers, featuring a celebrity-inspired sausage sizzle, a wood-fired pizza pop-up, and an all-day diner throughout the festival’s duration.

Highlighted programs include the Westside Wanders progressive dining series, exploring Werribee, Footscray, Ascot Vale, and Sunshine, as well as the upcoming Special Events Program scheduled for announcement early next year.

Thanks to the support of the Labor Government, particularly through Visit Victoria, the festival serves as a magnet for interstate, intrastate, and international food enthusiasts, spotlighting Melbourne’s distinctive food and drink scene along with its talented operators.
